As a fashion stylist for some of the world’s most recognizable people, Leisel “Q” Quamie, Beauty and Love Foundation’s creator, feels a sense of responsibility when she dresses anyone for an event.
She understands the effects of popular culture, particularly fashion, on younger generations. Whether it be a photo shoot, video, magazine or a day at the office, young people (girls, in particular) study the images of celebrities and models. Oftentimes, unfortunately, young people cannot or do not differentiate between the character ("the dress/the look") and the person. This is where Beauty & Love Foundation steps in. Building on the impact of 2006’s inaugural “Beauty & Love” teen summit, our goal is to help young girls and young women discover that a positive self-image does not begin or end with the media. A positive self-image begins with self.
